Stone Stairway at the Master Grill

This stone stairway is part of the Master Grill in Chastain Park.  The Master Grill was developed in the 1920’s under the leadership of William L. Monroe Sr., a master stonesman.  This is a 5 file HDR image processed in Photomatix Pro and Lightroom.  This photo was done for the 2013 Weekly Photo Challenge I am taking part in this year.  You can read more about Chastain Park in an article I wrote for Buckhead Patch http://buckhead.patch.com/articles/chastain-park-a-world-class-neighborhood-and-park

Beautiful Atlanta Sky From Phipps Plaza

I have tried to capture this shot before and was stopped by security.  This time I stayed in my car and was able to get the image I was looking for.  The clouds and sky were pretty amazing for about 3 minutes, then it was gone…  This is a 3 exposure HDR processed in SNS-HDR Pro and Lightroom.  The Church on the left is Wieuca Baptist Church and the building on the right is the Ritz Carlton Residences.

Lake Burton Dinner Table

This past weekend we went with some friends to their house in Lake Burton.  On Saturday night we grilled an amazing tenderloin and for a bunch of guys put together quite a spread.  Here is a shot of the table just before we sat down.

Photomatix compared to SNS-HDR

Since I started shooting HDR photos I have been using SNS-HDR to process the images.  I gave Photomatix a shot but SNS had a more natural look that I was looking for in my real estate photography.  Today I decided to circle back to Photomatix and process some of the shots I have taken over the past year.  Here is an example of one that I took over spring break in Rosemary Beach Florida.  I like the way it processed in SNS and maintains a natural look, but this time in Photomatix I went for a more creative touch and boy did it come out.  Here is the SNS version http://carsonvision.files.wordpress.com/2012/04/rosemary-beach-grass-park.jpg.  Compared to the Photomatix version below.  What do you think?

52 Week Photo Challenge Week 4: Extreme Detail

Again, the weekly subject of “extreme detail” was difficult because I was adamant not to shoot a macro picture.  I got a new car a couple of weeks ago, the new Ford Explorer.  It has rained almost every day since I purchased it, including as I was driving it off of the lot; so today I finally went and got a car wash.  Since it was all shiny and sparkly I decided to get a detailed shot of the front grill.  I processed it using SNS-HDR and Lightroom.
